THE USE of the NAME of JESUS in SPIRITUAL WARFARE

THE USE of the NAME of JESUS in SPIRITUAL WARFARE                                   (c) DDurek, 2015
I notice some things as we approach this topic. In the past some of God's people have either been: unknowing , unwilling, or unable to use His Name in combat. I have seen how that use of Jesus' Name in prayer has devolved into a few words we add at the end of a prayer as a lucky charm, thinking, oh boy, if I add these words, then I can get my answer. I do not approach this topic lightly. This is not taken from any other source or Bible Study. I have not even looked at my own past teachings and writings. I have studied this topic for years, yet I am taking a completely FRESH look at it. Do not think I am just warming over some leftovers sermons/ teachings. I mean to do an in-depth, thorough look at this important topic.

Although I am not teaching on PRAYER, The WORD reveals things that could hinder our prayers. Have you ever listed them out? Lets try to mention a few things- 1. Closing our EARS to the hearing of the WORD. (Prov. 28:9) 2. Not doing things that please the FATHER. (1 Jo 3:22)  3. Not KEEPING (guarding from loss, protecting within us- Prov. 4:20-23) HIS commandments. 4. Not loving the brethren. (the members of the body) (1 John 3:14-15) . 5. Not discerning the Body of Christ. (1 Cor 11) 6. Neglecting proper marital obligations to your spouse. 7. Asking amiss- to heap on our own lusts/ natural desires. (James 1)  8. Not knowing what it means to ask in HIS NAME. 9. Waiting for  God to do something He told us to do. 10. Ignorance of the WORD.   11. Ignorance of spiritual manifestations, administrations, gifts. (1 Cor 12) Entertaining a spirit of UNBELIEF.  12. Demonic interference/ turbulence. (Daniel 10:12-13) 13. Demonic attack (Job 1)

Please note the many traditions can actually NULLIFY the EFFECT of the WORD (Mark 7:13) in lives. The Church is BIG on traditions, some good, some not. Note: if we can have things the WORD is silent on, why can't we have things that it (N.T.) does mention?

I notice that its NOT about saying the phrase IN HIS NAME... IT IS DOING it in HIS NAME... see the difference? Again, did He say- add these words at the end of every prayer and you'll be sure to get your answer? Sometimes I think the Church has got lost in an argument about something the Bible never indicated at all: Speaking the phrase "In Jesus Name" vs. how to use actually His NAME.

Notice there are extreme PROMISES we must come to terms with! Matthew 17:20. Mark 11:23-24
Notice in John 15, He said that if we LIVED in HIM, and HIS WORDS LIVED in US...
There is a difference in the understanding between ASKING in PRAYER and DEMANDING in WARFARE. Demanding the enemy withdraw is different than asking the LORD to do it.

First let us observe some things about how Jesus operated in His ministry. He came in the Name of the FATHER and did His deeds in the full authority of God, the Father. He told His disciples that as my Father hath sent me so send I you. You may say, "Well that was for His disciples". But note that He later also said, teach them to observe all the things that I have commanded you. (Matt 28)  So that implies that every disciple of Christ, not just the 11 apostles were under this commission. Every believer, or minister, to the degree that they believe it, can exercise the authority Jesus delegated and intended. He that speakes let him speak as the oracles of GOD. Jesus spoke with authority. We are to Do what JESUS DID.

(As an aside- I believe that Christ gets no glory if we don't accept the things he suffered to give us.)

Now as we begin this subject, let us see how Christ came into the world, rather how He ministered. Note He said the following things: My doctrine is not mine, but He Who sent Me. The works that I do, the Father IN me doeth the works. He was operating exclusively by the complete authority of the Father who sent Him. So Who was doing the healing? Jesus or the Father in Him? He also said- I see the Father working, and I also work. By the gifts of the Spirit he foresaw what the Father was going to do through Him and He simply acted it out. I can see Him in prayer, seeing the people He would minister to the next day. Jesus was always GOD, but set aside (emptied himself- the kenosis- Phil 2:70)   His divine qualities as omnipotence, omniscience, etc... to be as  Man. He never ceased being Divine God. Once incarnated, He's never ceased to be a MAN. He is the GOD/MAN. Luke 4:16; etc.

So Christ operated in the authority of the FATHER. He didn't say the words, IN my Father's name- be healed. He just did it. Can you see that much? Then, if Jesus said- His disciples, all of them then and now, were to go into the world exactly as His commission from the Father was, that shows us something about what it means to do things in HIS NAME and authority.

IN modern language lawyers will tell you all about the meaning of delegated authority. But let us digress. Does use of another person's name NOT imply delegated authority? Yes! Where does Jesus tell his disciples to use HIS NAME/AUTHORITY in spiritual warfare/combat?

How does an ambassador go out to represent a country? How are we ambassadors for Christ? What is a representative with FULL delegated authority? Name 2 kinds of POWER in the New Testament Scriptures. DUNAMIS and EXOUSIA. Dynamic, and delegated authority. Illus: I saw a small kid cross the street 182nd and Powell. A big truck was stopped at the light, the kid crossed with confidence, knowing that red light for the truck would keep it in place. If the truck driver disobeyed the law and hit the kid- his life would be forever affected negatively! Dire consequences for the disobedient one. When someone is protected by the law- its an invisible shield that all recognize as binding with real consequences for the lawbreaker. A civilized society must be founded on rules, regulations,  and yet have judges that judge responsibly and with discretion.
Note: the same act can be wrong in one instance, but right in another case. A killing could be justified in certain circumstances.

We Need to know that we have been LEGALLY delivered from the Kingdom of satan. (Col 1:14) .
We must know what John 16:8 means to our spiritual authority. How is satan judged? what does this mean.

Verses on spiritual authority- Luke 10:9-10; Acts 10:38; Acts 2:22;

Uuderstanding the WORD

Jesus Christ is still the Only Hope for the world. For all people in particular.              3-22-2015 dd
There is no other answer for mankind, except to be born again from above, to be washed from sin, by full faith in the sinless blood of Jesus. To believe ON the Son of God is eternal life, to know Him (John 17:3)

How to Read, Study, understand the BIBLE
Make no mistake about, the Bible, a proper understanding of, is the most important thing in life itself for mankind. If you are able to really hear and understand what you hear, and read, you are blessed. (Rev 1)
But many people are ignorant about the Bible, its history, its richness, its message.

Only those who fear the Bible - refuse to read it and obey it.
Only those seeking to avoid personal responsibility seek to discredit its claims against their soul.
Because it unveils man's estate- fallen, guilty before God.
Pride of man does not want to hear this.
Better to hear and humble self now that to wait til later,
when every knee SHALL bow- but force acknowledging Christ.

This is a book, a personal love letter from God. But its also a warning.
A dire warning to all who ignore God's grace.

It reveals the cross- God's master stroke of wisdom. The cross- God's wrath against sin. The cross- the only way of salvation. The cross- the place of crisis for man. The cross- you either mock it- or see yourself up there- tied together with Christ. Bound to Him eternally through loves strong chord. Crucified WITH HIM- against sin.

You agree with God. Buried with Him into DEATH- you agree with God. But also raised with HIM to walk in newness of life. There can be no new life without a dying WITH CHRIST. Dying to sin- Dying to the OLD
LIFE. Corrupt to the core. Hell-deserving. Plucked up by the roots.

God's WORD; its BREAD, its MILK, its MEAT

The message of eternal life is not complicated. Paul talked about the simplicity of the faith. Jesus thanked God that these things were revealed to babes. You don't have to specialized in theology to get to heaven, its knee-ology and child-like faith that gets the job done.  They say some things are better felt than telt, if you know what I mean.  Hebr 6:1 talks about the first principles of faith, understanding the WORD.

The Bible was written by inspiration, by 40 people over 1600 years from every occupation and personality.
It claims to be inspired and proves to be inspired. Though written by different people it is remarkable in its single message. The awesome responsibility of sinful men to turn around and receive the salvation provided by a merciful Creator.

The Bible is a progressive revelation to man. By this we mean that each successive generation of people could see more clearly the playing out of the plan of God for mankind. For example, we see Job's trials in a different light than he did in them. We look back at Israel's captivity and deliverance clearer than those as they lived it.

The Bible has history, poetry, songs, doctrine, genealogies recorded, etc. Its divided into 2 parts as we use it, but really we see more parts there. Dispensations are time periods of God's probationary testing of free moral agents, to help them learn obedience by what they experience and have revealed to them. Psalms says before I was afflicted I went astray, but now have I kept Thy WORD. (Ps 119:67;  See also- 1 Pe 5:10)

Just as Philip in Acts asked a man on a chariot if he understood what he was reading, he replied- how can except someone explain it to me? So we too need a bit of explanation. Thank God people before us diligently studied the Bible and made many notes for us to learn. There is a vast wealth of information about what it means.

Its God's message to men. He explains what happened to mankind. The entrance of sin into man's world by Adam was the worst thing to happen. (Romans 5:12) We are now reaping the results. But there will be a day coming in which its described as a New World wherein dwells righteousness. (2 Pe 3:13) Righteousness lost and found is the theme of the Bible. God's intervention to lead men away from evil, sin, rebellion, and to create in them a new pure heart is what the Bible is all about.   Sin brought death. Death is separation from God and Life. Christ, the Innocent died to confer upon those who accept it, eternal life, and righteousness. (Romans 5:17) (John 5:24) 1 John 5:13-15)

We must approach it as any other book, and as no other Book.  The Bible is not boring, because it is alive. The Holy Spirit backs up the testimony of the WORD. He's present to glorify the things of Christ, make them real. Also John 16:8. If you seek God from a true and contrite heart humbly, you will find Him. He will lead you and guide you in the affairs of life.

Wisdom? The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge and wisdom.
Rules of scriptural interpretation include these:  Take the WORD as literal as possible. When figurative language is used look for it to explain itself! (As in Daniel's image) . When Jesus called Herod a fox, we understand it was figurative. The parables of Jesus as not to be over-spiritualized just to get a new revelation. The ten virgins only means be prepared, that's it.

The gospels were written with a particular audience in mind. Matthew- to the JEWS, Christ King of the JEWS. Mark's narrative from Peter- Jesus, Tireless Servant of God and Man, Luke- Jesus, True Son of Man, JOHN- Jesus, Son of God,  God revealed in the flesh, God incarnate.

Value of the WORD: what it can do
It is alive, living, vital- Heb. 4:12, it opens the eyes, gives light to the soul!
Ps 119:130- and understanding to the simple. 1 Cor 1.
Emphasizes its appeal to / meaning for the soul of man- John 6:60
Makes thee wise unto salvation- 2 Tim 3:15
John 17:3- Have you had an encounter with Christ that has been life-changing?
Titus 2:12- Have you experienced the grace of GOD in such a way that is life-altering?
If not - your eternal soul is in extreme danger! Mark 8:36-37
Keeps one from sin- Psalm 119:7-9
The washing and CLEANSING of the WORD - Eph 5:26
Brings great peace and protection from stumbling away - Psalm 119:165
The fire shut up in the bones- it brings! Jer. 20:9
The joy and great rejoicing it brings- Jer. 15:16

Ways to study the scriptures:
Doctrinally - 2 Tim 3:16
Dispensation-ally- Eph 1:10, 3:2
Devotionally- Psalm 23
Dynamically- Acts 1:8

Ways NOT to apply approach the WORD
A sword fight with a brother or sister. 2 Cor 4:2
Foolishly, in unbelief- Luke 24:25
In human, prideful ways- 1 Cor 1
With closed ears- Prov 28:9
With closed heart- Matt 13:15; 1 Cor 2
As a scoffer or mocker- 2 Pe 3:3
---------------------------------------------------------

We Read and Study the WORD- For It Reveals the Character and Nature of God
When we speak of the character and nature of God- this is very important. Some people nowadays impugn the LORD. They see a different God in the OT than the NT and call it a contradiction.

The un-saved cannot receive spiritual things! 1 Cor 2. they cannot grasp God fully. They can receive the gospel. They cannot understand the greater things of God. In darkness they will stumble. John 3:19

If you understand God's revelation to man- as progressive, you can see it better. I see God in the OT as trying to preserve a natural people, undefiled so that the Messiah, Redeemer can be born.
Why does God seem so hard in the OT?  He hates sin and what it does to man. The nations that were occupying the Promised land, had heard of the miracles God did in Egypt. They were afraid of the people of Israel. They could have left the land. They refused and were kicked out by force. One time bees went in and drove the people out.

We have accounts of people like Rahab the harlot, who sided with Israel, and were spared. God had said the land was filled with blood. The people there made their children pass through the fire. God hated this.

Man has failed in every dispensation under best of circumstances. He proves that human flesh wars against the perfect life of God.  Instead of blaming God, try humbling ourselves before HIM! Hebr 11:6, man's pride is the problem. He refuses to humble himself and must suffer the consequences. Leaving LIFE - you get DEATH. Drawing away from perfection- you get miserable existence. Its our choice!

The God of the OT is not a different personality than of today. We are in a different dispensation- NOT LAW.
Christ died and rose- the hope of all mankind. The fruits of Christianity- wherever the true gospel has gone- the people have been blessed! There is a country in the Pacific- that suffered for years- the churches banded together prayed for revival. And the nation was healed. The land saw miraculous healing. The people prospered every way.

I heard of a time in Africa- where the people repented, prayed, and a storm came over- and filled their water reservoir-! They got blessed! I see in the OT when Israel obeyed God- the kingdom did well, when they forgot God- they suffered. This is a simple principle of the WORD.

God hasn't changed- men are the ones who drift away for God! And suffer the consequences! There is a law of nature - of sowing and reaping.

GOD is KIND, God is merciful and just to all! Luke 6, Exodus 34:5-7

GOD is JUST- He will call all beings, creation into a final judgment - men are accountable Heb 9:27

GOD is UNCHANGEABLE- His traits, and qualities, character, plans,  and purposes. Mal 3:6

GOD is SUPREME- there is no one higher, or better! the MOST HIGH GOD

GOD is MERCIFUL- allowing men to repent, turn around, be converted. Act 17- repentance - a command!

GOD is TRUE- He cannot fail to keep His WORD to us. Every promise is true! Find one and make it yours!

He cannot deny Himself! His WORD has absolute integrity!

Millions have put their trust in Him- and have never been disappointed.

Total Freedom Now

Total Freedom Now
Jesus purchased our freedom- why not enjoy it now?
His blood secured it to us forever, why wait an minute more?

               Try Jesus' yoke Matt 11:28

Faith that works by Love , 1 Cor 13, gifts work best by LOVE, AGAPA,
               Jesus was moved with compassion
Here Paul tells us that LOVE/ agapa is in motion, moving always, like faith.
               Jesus was moved with compassion
               He was love-in-action
He was the Model of this new kind of love. This love-nature of God is born in us

Deliverance and Discretion

Deliverance is salvation, rescue, retrieval, restoration, healing, completeness, bringing back to an original state, to a pristine unblemished condition. This IS the new birth, the New Creation-ones. John 3:3, 2 Cor 5:17. God makes all things new. His life flowing through a thing- renews it continually.  Its the absence of: death, separation, hopelessness, darkness.. etc. Also called His Divine Nature in us. 2 Pe 1:3-4, 1 Cor 1:30

  • Awareness of a problem alone does not solve it. But a correct, proper response can.
  • There is a difference between helping and hindering.
  • There is a difference between wise acts and foolish acts.
  • There is a connecting link between wisdom and discretion
  • There is a benefit to wise decisions and choices.
  • There is a connection between believing and acting
  • There is a connection between believing and speaking.
  • We are often smarter than we realize
  • Smart people hang out with smart people.
  • God's people have a different kind of smartness.
I wondered why there seems to be no middle ground between a fool and a wise person?
Maybe the 'tween is called a disciple or a learner, yet even that one falls on-can be counted wise.
(A fool who holds his peace can be counted as a wise one.)
So there is a process involved in leaving foolishness and going on over to wisdom/discretion.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom. God's wisdom brings discretion. Discretion saves us.
Saves us from BAD decisions!
  • There is a connection to what we believe and what we say. Words are directive. Just listen!
A boat's rudder has a great power. Ability.
The motor has one sort of power- the rudder has another kind of power.
See that?  Once is directive, one is inertial. The tongue is like a rudder of a ship. Its directive. It sets the direction for that thing to go! Where is the source of power? the motor? the gasoline? the ignition switch? The pilot? The boat? Perhaps its a combination of things that add up to a whole.

Prophesy has a creative element. Prophesy to the wind. Prophesy to these dry bones, speak to the mountain, speak to the storm, speak to the inanimate object, telling it what its going to do. Mark 11:23-24, John 15:5.  Moses wished all God's children's operated in the prophetic, and "Is Saul also among the prophets?" still speaks today. God's Spirit falling upon, coming upon, resting on, is for some activity, purpose, calling, directive, production, labor, fruit, edification.

Paul prayed, and asked others to pray for utterance- the ability to speak the best, most productive words,
words that set a directive, words that build up, not tear down, words that edify, charge us or others up.

  • There is an evil side in the power of words. Its called inciting a riot with words that inflame to evil. History evidences many who controlled, dominated, destroyed many. They did evil by bringing out the worst in people. Instigators.

  • Supernatural/spiritual realities trump natural facts. Because we are in league, partnership, covenant with the LORD. Certain battle have already been successfully waged on our behalf. When we prophesy the WORD, will of God over a thing we are aligning with a reality that circumvents any fact of the natural realm. Faith in any covenant reality changes circumstances. Paul and Silas' chains and bruises were facts. The covenant Presence of God with them in that cell, meant the bonds could not hold them. See that? The law of gravity is a fact. The law of lift is a reality that causes a jumbo 747 to fly off into the clouds!

Illus: ships that never sailed. They were designed to, but never caught the wind and saw adventure.

Merits of The Cross: Our Inheritance: D,E, F: Deliverance, Enlightenment, Faith

Deliverance:
3 phases of being delivered- (2 Cor. 1:10)
Legal Aspects of deliverance- (Col 1:14)
Moral, Mental and Spiritual Deliverance
Practical aspects of deliverance.
and staying IN deliverance mode. Steadfast
(Ps 78:37; 1 Cor. 15:58; Heb 3:14; 1 Pe. 5:9)

The theme/central message of the Bible can possibly be summed up in 1 word: deliverance
It means rescue, restoration, recovery, salvation, to preserve, protect, heal,
Just like believe ON implies: to rely on, lean on, adhere to, stick to like glue or cement.

Individual, group, and societal deliverance.
Phases: I was, I am, I will be.  (2 Cor 1:10)
We ask to be daily delivered from temptation. This implies that IN temptation, our resolve will remain strong. (Luke 18:1-not cave in) We will be steadfast in resisting evil enticements. Humility is KEY here. Humility is the KEY to many things. Not all rich are proud, nor all poor humble.  One can be smart yet dumb.
If you want to be great in God's Kingdom, be the servant of all.

Colossians 1:14- legal placement from Satan's authority into God's.
We don't just come out of sin- we go into righteousness. (Rom 5:17)
We don't just come out of darkness- we go into light. (1 John 1:9)
We don't just kick out the enemy- we need to be filled with God.
When spirits leave, they return if the place is clean, but empty.

Luke 10:9-10. Jesus conferred to his followers authority over evil forces.
Yet many have taken this to imply that we should take the kingdom NOW. The correct understanding may be- the kingdom is within you. Not of this world. We don't fight to control governments. Or society. Yet we are salt and light to society. (Matt 5)...
The Church is to show its domain over darkness - in the preaching of the gospel with signs following, demonstration of the Spirit confirming that Christ is raised form the dead, victorious over evil. (Eph 3:10)

The Church is to preach the good news, proclaim the salvation of Christ. Not Kingdom now.
The Man-child, the 144,000 who preach the imminent coming of the Kingdom in the 7 year tribulation. Then the end comes. Even the outpouring is the one in Zechariah and Joel, began at Pentecost, finishes up in Jerusalem just before Christ returns. The fullness of the kingdom is predicated on the Presence of the KING at the 2nd Advent. He ushers in the Kingdom FROM Heaven. The sons of God are manifest at the 2nd Advent. The judgment of the nations occurs then, some going into the 1,000 year reign of the Lord (1 Cor 15; Revelation 20) In THIS dispensation of grace, we are truly ambassadors unrecognized. (John 14:31) We have persecution.

Rebel holder of authority: Though legally defeated, the enemy is clinging on to those yet in darkness refusing to let them go. The devil runs through red lights. He texts and drives at same time. He breaks the law. The Church is to teach the evil spirits a thing or two. (Eph 3:10)  Christ has legally done something about the enemy. We are merely enforcers of this new law. The Holy Spirit (John 16:8) helps in this. He actively confirms the WORD of deliverance with signs showing the victory. (1 Cor. 2; Mark 16:20)

Merits of the CROSS:Access, Boldness, Confidence (Eph 3:12; 2:13)

A- Access
In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.
1. We have access to the throne room
2. We have access to the Father’s ear/ heart
3. Access to the Father’s plans for us .  Access to the holy of holies
Limited access cards
Access by security rating
Access to dignitaries
Access by family association
Children of the KING
Need to believe... that:
Merits of the Cross, your rich inheritance.
People usually ask... What's in it for me?
If you could see it all at once-you'd pass out literally. (But God will show you the future)
Men would run to the altar and throw themselves on it
But God plans on the glory of the reveal...
For the believer: the child of God. Gal 3:26
Part of your inheritance is reserved in heaven.

God is more concerned about your problems than you are
God is smarter than you. BUT will sgare Wisdom, much wisdom
God is an Expert at solving issues
God's advice is always the best
God knows how to inform you of how to fix any problem
You must put your whole heart trust in Him to see a solution

Hebrews 11:6, Phillip 4:19 there are promises, covenant privileges based on family relationship
Jesus focus is on his people, not the world

Lets talk about basic needs
Food, clothing, money, basic needs of life
Then other real needs: social, mental, spiritual, eternal needs
People also need: purpose, security, challenge, adventure, fun, pleasure, etc
Surprisingly God made us to want and need all these things, and to find them in him

Need food, clothing, etc..., Matthew 6:33.. Not seen.. His seed begging bread...
Money... Riches... Prov 2
Prosperity...Prov 3.. Shalom is all encompassing word implying a compkete covering, which is God Himself as your Shelter and complete Refuge... He takes all your needs under His case
And cares of life... 1 pe 4- cast, cast psalm 55:22 throw...
To throw a thing implies you have to LET IT GO COMPLETELY

Remember, God is a covenant God. Not a casual, iffy God
His promises are yea and amen... His Word is sure...perfect ever enduring
But you just understand God works in covenants, absolutes!
Absolute promises based on absolute commitment.
To keep his word literally means to guard it as walls around a fort
To protect guard it from slipping away
Recall Psalm 119:7-9.. Mark 8:the seed planted in good soil will produce

We cannot get a sure result with casual passive faith, faith without works, etc
The Bible calls this kind of faith dead faith because it only in the mind we call it mental assent

Faith comes by hearing, the word then you simply act on what you have heard
Jesus said the one who acted on the word was like one who built their home on a rock

People make a mistake thinking the need more faith, when in reality faith is measured in its quality
We need more word...because that will produce faith, faith being either a fruit is a gift.

1 Peter 1 I love to read Rev. 21... Wipe away tears from their eyes
Yet we are blessed now ...

I read Proverbs 3 the other day... And looked for the meaning of shalom...
Its more that peace... Its the fullness of life given to men!
See also john 10:10b
Our  legal standing is that we are seated Eph 1
But we are now the Sons of God 1 john 3. this foreshadows something great in store
The completion of the human project. God's product is you and I His workmanship.
That the Holy Spirit is now revealing in our age and dispensation.1 Cor 2:9 (keyword: disclosure...to His friends.. John 15:15)

Jesus came in human flesh, a Man to win a battle for mankind. One giant leap for mankind.
The good news is that He did and does for us what we cannot do for ourselves. Romans 5:8
You cannot change your nature, but God can!
This is good news. God imparts to men thru Christ, his own life and nature righteousness,
Recreates the human spirit, causes your life to be reborn, creates hope where no hope existed
Christ is truly the Light that shines on every man who enters this world. John 1:9

Hunger for GOD

Hunger for God

It is a fact that the Almighty God designed man in such a way that only God’s Presence and  Glory  can satisfy the deepest cravings, longings and hunger, thirst in a man’s soul, spirit!  (Acts 17: 16-31 esp:v 27- grope for God, feel for Him; Ps 42:1-2- Thirst for God; Matt 5:6 – Hunger for righteousness . Seek:

Mankind is privileged to be called to a place- close to the heart of the Father God. We can come to His Throne- and enjoy the perfect peace, safety, security, happiness, joy, satisfaction that only He can give. Through faith in the blood sacrifice of Christ, man is reconciled to God.

This is described in Holy Scriptures as: under the shadow of His wings, (Ps 91) secret place in God, our LIFE being hid with Christ in God, coming to the Throne of Grace, we being the dwelling place or abode  of most High God, our hearts! Our re-created human spirits! We are partakers of His divine nature through Christ! We now have His mind! Access to wisdom from above! Gifts and Graces to meet every need of life itself! Lacking nothing!

“He never sends away any empty – except those who are full of themselves!” one has said. So the most dangerous enemy is not the devil – he’s a defeated foe. The enemy is actually selfishness! Our natural old tendency to judge things by our five senses- rather than by the Spirit of Reality! The old way- we are to put OFF- toss it! Every day! The new way- new man- put on every day fresh! Renew our minds to this!

How to detect if you’re in the spirit – or flesh (five senses): what interests, excites you more? What you’re doing- or what God is doing? What you see naturally or what the WORD says? Your bank-book balance (in black-and-white)? Your human flesh – aches and pains- or the WORD that declares your liberty/ health ? Is your life focus – YOU? Or outside you?  Is The Lord Most High- top on your list of priorities? His will? The will and glory of the of the coming Kingdom and its righteousness? Temporal or Eternal Things? Temporary things- or permanent things?

Eternal Treasures: which are – PEOPLE -- God’s top priority! You can’t take it with you they say- but I say- you can send it on ahead! Jesus said likewise!

What has this to do with seeking GOD? Or hunger for GOD? Everything! We have to first detect our own position! Are we a professor or a possessor? (Rev 3:17-18) Hot or cold? Satisfied or dissatisfied? In God we are satisfied with Him, yet dissatisfied with ourselves. We need to be endued with power to do good for the people to demonstrate Christ’s resurrection power in this age. What would Jesus do?
Then let us do what we figure He would do if He were on earth! (Acts 10:38)

Jesus is coming! The end of all things- (evil) is at hand. A great change is on the horizon! The Government shall rest on His shoulders! The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord- of His Christ- and He shall reign forever. Of the Increase of His government and of His peace – there shall be NO END!

Now you see why we need to hunger for more of God- transforming us into soldiers- fully equipped for battle! (Eph 6) God is unwilling that any should perish- but wants all to come to repentance!

REVIVAL- Who Needs it?

34 percent of the population believes they are "born again" while 25-30 percent
does not believe there is a "personal divinity" at all.

The 1990 ARIS study found that 86.2 percent of the population described itself as Christian, a
slice that shrank to 76 percent in 2008. Catholic, Baptist and "mainline" Christian faiths
(e.g., Methodist, Lutheran and Episcopalian) populations declined, as did those who described
themselves as Christian without a particular denomination. But there were more people
who described themselves as evangelical or born again and in Pentecostal denominations.
Now, 49 percent of all Christians describe themselves as "born again."

Someone has said- standard of living is up- yet chances of living are down-
Higher technology- lower morality
People are busier than ever- on meaningless endeavors...
More investment in things fading away....
So much spent on beauty- products- while bodies grow old and deteriorate....

Is there any concern for the eternal?
Many have been fooled to push away the thought!

They say- no one can know for sure! How do you know? Do you know everything?
Only then could you make such a statement.

So there is a possibility of an afterlife- an since there is that possibility-
one MUST be prepared EVEN for the POSSIBILITY!

For example: it MIGHT rain- I had better take an umbrella!
For example: the car could break down- I had better take a cellphone-
For example: I might die- had better make a will!

For example: there might be a Heaven to gain- a hell to shun- I better think
seriously about it! and attempt to talk to God now- and settle issues! NOW!

People grow older- I had better get an education and good job!
I should make plans for retirement while there is time!
I had better be industrious- go to the ant thou sluggard!

FAITH

FAITH- is- Belief in Motion/Activated                                                         2 Cor 4; Hebr 11

Faith is an act. It is something we do. Faith without works is dead. All faith has a corresponding action attached to it! All in the Bible who accomplished something for the LORD- went out on a limb – in the eyes of others- maybe foolish- but with a solid unseen confidence stepped out in this confidence. Faith is activation of belief. Understand that God does use foolish things- foolish to so-called wise of this world. He does this to confound the wise- to take them in their own ways (1 Cor. 1)

All bakers know that yeast activates the lump of dough- without it that lump will just sit- but yeast- being alive- starts changing the dimensions of that lump- something starts moving! so also faith- is activated belief- that changes things! It changes you! Just try it! Start anticipating God to move on the scene! Paul said a person should stir up something within! Activate your calling and gifting! You do something! God has already done everything- man must respond now- and do something! Stretch forth that hand! Rise up and walk! Go wash mud off eyes! Go show thyself to the priest! Break out the roof tiles for a friend- My expectation is from the Lord (Ps 62)

Faith- Activated belief is of the spirit- not mind.
The mind wants to figure it our logically- Jesus said there was a time to think logically- when constructing a building, for example. Counting the cost, etc. Project Management is today’s term.
There is a difference between heart-faith and presumption. After Israel refused to enter the Promised Land. They got mad and in presumption- anger- said- well, lets go get it- the same act from a different motivation will NOT bring the answer! One is of real faith- heart-faith- the other is a presuming- of the mind- He said do it- lets do it- in a kind of unbelief! There I told you so- I knew we couldn’t do it! “I tried faith-but it didn’t work!” kind of an answer

Faith is  a walk.
See all who exercised FAITH in God- did something- moved by FAITH: real faith MOVES you to get out of your seat of comfort- and do something! You have a explosion of change in your daily schedule!
Faith has a TALK - Ps 50; Romans 4:17; Mark 11:23-24; 2 Cor 4:13;

Faith has a laugh to it.  Faith sees beyond the visible. Faith hears beyond the audible. FAITH touches the untouchable. Faith has a grasp to it! (Acts 17; Isa 64) Faith sees into the future – and calls forth things into being. Saying NOW faith IS (Heb 11:1-2)  It may appear foolish to the carnal (1 Cor 1)
If you want GOD to invade your home- you re-arrange priorities. What would you need? A loved one saved? Have you travailed in birth for them? Huh?

Do you know someone who needs a healing? Have you taken it to them? Have you taken the Word and His Power to where the need is? And will you believe Mark 16?
Now faith is not only shouting or hollering or doing a lot of physical realm things- to accomplish something- YET it can be seen and heard in the shout of those who receive before they see the answer! Its one thing to shout when you’re happy- but have you ever done this: shout for no reason at all- other than to know that your name is written in Heaven! Hallelujah!

Activated belief caused the woman with the issue of blood to know that she was to be healed- with one touch! She didn’t sit at home and say- I’m healed- she made her way down to where the “power of the Lord was present to heal”. This does not imply that today you cannot be healed at home- you can. But there is a place where the Spirit is being poured out where things happen!  The fullness of the manifestation/ demonstration is! Many logs burn brighter in a fire! Activated belief caused the Children of Israel to march around Jericho six days- then on the seventh seven times and let out a shout! Activated belief- Moses stretched his rod over the waters! And Israel crossed over Red Sea as on dry ground- fed them in the wilderness – and caused them to go into their promised land! ACTIVE FAITH ACTION!

DO SOMETHING! That is FAITH! Get beside yourself- your normal quiet self!

Covenant (part 1)

COVENANT- Introduction
Christ is the Mediator of a better covenant established on better promises. Hebrews 8:6;

At the end of this teaching you should be able to
1. Define a covenant
2. Explain why people enter into covenants, the benefits, etc...
3. How covenants are ratified, confirmed
4. Explain some scripture passage which you now see in a covenant context or light!

Beloved, I would like us to re-phrase all our thinking and speaking along these terms. Everything stems from God's covenant with us. All Bible understanding centers on this. I would have you renew your mind with the Word of the Covenant terms.

All God's dealings with man are based on this: covenant. We must lay a foundation for our understanding. Everything FLOWS from God to us based on COVENANT. Blood covenant in this case. The blood of Jesus- is the blood of the New Covenant. This is NOT A SIDE ISSUE- this is THE SOLE ISSUE
Some have denigrated or downplayed the provisions of the covenant as unnecessary things- or simply accessory things- (false humility) but I've said it this way- never down-grade nor disparage something that Christ suffered to give us! it must be important!

Beloved, know this: Christianity was never meant to be a hit-or-miss proposition. Yet if you listen to some Bible teachers - there's a whole lot of uncertainties. They don't understand covenant.  Some teach that you shouldn't expect too much from the Lord- forgetting that God is the one who has established the covenant - not us. We are beneficiaries of it! And so is God!

Confidence in the Covenant
Let us take a look at the WORD today. Base and build our lives and experiences on the  WORD and not vice versa. We need to know about the covenant God has established for our salvation. I say this because it cannot be taken for granted that we know about it. Hebrews tells us we have a better covenant, based on better promises. If we know little about the first covenant how can we judge if we have a better one than that?

When you understand covenant- it will help you understand all the Bible. It will keep you from doctrinal errors.  It will help you in your everyday life. Its very important. It will open your eyes to every verse or promise you read in the WORD. It will erase your doubts and fears and unbelief and move you into the realm of FAITH. This will change your prayer life. It will position you in a whole new direction spiritually. It may change the way we pray for - or minister to others. We will watch Jesus as He ministered to people and find new things about this!
This is a revelation to the New Creation Man!

INTO OUR LIPS: I read Psalm 50 awhile back and made an amazing discovery. The Lord was asking the lost man why HE was taking God's covenant into his lips? In context- it seemed that then the righteous would be expected to do so, not the lost man, the one outside Israel's covenant protection of God.

Precise knowledge: (Gr. epignosis) Most know that God established many covenants with men in the past. Do we know what a covenant is? I see that a covenant is a sacred contract. Its like a marriage contract. Its like a contract you sing for a loan. A covenant is a contract. Two people come together to make an agreement that satisfies the needs of the other. There is an exchange. Can you understand why a loving Creator would enter into contract with man?

INTO OUR LIPS: I read Psalm 50 awhile back and made an amazing discovery. The Lord was asking the lost man why HE was taking God's covenant into his lips? It seemed that then the righteous would be expected to do so.
I also read Hebrews 6 and saw how that the lost man- discounts the value of the blood of Christ. I then realized a true believer then was one who respected the blood of the covenant as a holy thing. Again- what makes you a believer and keeps you a believer is your FAITH in the BLOOD of the covenant/contract.

Did you know its important what you say? Faith has a confession to be maintained. Faith speaks. Yet so does unbelief and doubt, fear. (the 3 enemies of faith).   We need to place the names of God into covenant context. Jehovah-Jireh, Jehovah-Tsidkenu, Jehovah-Rapha, etc. Ignorance of the WORD can hurt you, shorten your life!

Let us examine these thoughts: why does God establish covenants? What are terms and conditions?
Our relationship with the Holy Spirit- our Teacher, Guide, Personal Trainer, Coach, Helper, is based on the covenant.

Proper understanding of our covenant will help dispel many wrong interpretations of scripture, as well as stabilize us in our relationship to God. It will help us frame all of scripture into its proper setting, place, with correct meaning.  We really can't grasp being a Christian without some understanding of how a covenant works. (1 Cor 1:26- 2:12)

At the end of this I want you to see this: a covenant is more than just an agreement. Its that plus more. It is a  binding contract between two or more parties. In Bible terms covenant means testament. We generally only think of testament as a division of the Bible into 2 parts. Well, that's a beginning.

Man desires at his heart these things: Stability, Consistency, Dependability. Dealing with us, God's creatures  He also wants these things from us. So we can begin to see how that 2 parties come together to form a compact, a contract beneficial to both sides. In our world examples could be labor-management, etc. They hammer out a contract- then agree to its terms. A marriage is a covenant. Of blood also. we've heard the term- blood brothers: created by a covenant. There is a covenant of salt, etc....

Examples of covenants: Labor management contracts=covenant = agreement= promise...
The marriage covenant- commitment...
CCR- covenants and restrictions...
Contracts for anything- to buy a home, installment payments, etc
They: set the terms and conditions, promises, legally binding and enforceable

God has entered into various covenants/ contracts/ agreements with mankind.  Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, etc... but for us as NT believers, I find that people's faith is lacking because they either have not heard of the covenant, or are ignorant of its provisions. And many people think of it this way: God has promises with conditions- He provides, and we obey. That's only part of the story.

Covenant- (New Covenant- Jer. 31)
You need to understand, that in a covenant - parties come together for a mutual benefit. If we will understand covenant, we will understand God's plans. Now when I say two parties come together for a mutual benefit you may ask- I know what we need from God- but what could He possibly need from us? When you see this- you'll have a more satisfying relationship with God based upon knowledge and not mere conjecture.

This will adjust our approach to the Lord. And our walk with Him will become something more beautiful, because we are enlightened by the Word - of the covenant. We will enjoy His covenant-kindness-mercy. We will see it as something unmerited but yet provided freely for us to enjoy.

So- what do we need from God and what does He need from us?  Some people have the idea that God does not need man at all. That God is just putting up with man- but He's probably counting the days when He can create some one or something better than man since man has been such as disappointment to his heart (Gen 6). remember the times in the Word where God's heart was grieved / affected...? (Gen 6) and also when He said to Moses- I'll destroy them- and make a nation out of you.

Does God need man? Does God need you? This is important for we've all heard some teaching that touches on this premise or argument. If we somehow do retain the idea that God does NOT need us to fulfill His plan- then you can see how it will affect you. You'll feel- well what does my life matter- God has a billion people- He doesn't need me! all that kind of garbage. Some of it filters even into philosophy or false doctrines. For example- God has His 144,000- too bad you're out of luck, man...

Let me ask this: if God did not need man why would He pay the highest cost in the universe to buy us back from the enemy? That alone does not compute. Think of it: then what is the value of one man to a loving Creator? This then re-frames out whole thinking- He loves every lost man so much! All this frames our talk of covenant.

The Cross shouts out to man- louder than any philosophical argument- is it then any wonder Paul said- I'll only speak of the cross? Christ crucified! Because it stops every other voice- crying out- I want you this much! The cross settles God's appeal to man- for his life!

   Recap:
Covenant is: and agreement, binding contract, sacred contract between parties,
It involves: Exchange. The weaker is blessed of the stronger. Look for these terms and Bible language-
"When I am weak- then I am strong" that's covenant talk
"The Lord is my Refuge and Strength" that's covenant talk!
"We are IN HIM - He is in us"
"I am in my Father" "My Father is in Me"
Also so many scriptures: John 14-17, 2 Cor 5:17, Psalms 23, Psalms 91, Psalm 103.
            We have God's covenant protection
                                    covenant grace and favor

Hebrews 9-10 explains our covenant. Also Galatians. Contrasts:

OLD COVENANT
NEW COVENANT
Weaker
Better
Had faults
No faults
Could not sanctify
Purges completely
Could not change man within
Man is now changed within

Covenant Consciousness
Let us consider all of these faith statements that they are in fact covenant-consciousness-confessions:

I will say of the Lord, He is My refuge
Ye are my people I am thy God...
When I am weak.. then am I strong...
In my name ye shall...
By His stripes ye were healed...
I am the Vine- ye are the branches...
New Covenant in my blood.... shed for many for the remission/ removal/ eradication of sin...
Jehovah-Rapha, Jireh, Shalom, Tsidkenu

Covenant means connection to the Power Source... uninterrupted supply!
Irrespective of and independent of circumstances, the visible realm

I will boldly proclaim.....
If ye shall ask (as to demand of an enemy) anything IN MY NAME - I will do it!

We have EXCHANGED weakness for strength....
Sickness for healing... Death for eternal LIFE
TURMOIL for PEACE!

Can a covenant be disannulled? broken (abrogated/cancelled) by one party? Yes, men are known as covenant-breakers, but God cannot lie, cannot disannul the thing He has spoken... this is the integrity of HIS WORD. The prophets reminded God of His covenant- to continue with Israel though in unbelief and disobedience...

Now then, we can have confidence in the covenant - confess the covenant- take it into our mouth/lips- and enjoy all its benefits- provisions- our inheritance left for us- (if ye shall speak to this mountain- be thou removed..) He that believeth shall....

Our TALK- 2 Cor 4:13- we believe and therefore speak...
Our LOOK- 2 Cor 4:18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things
which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things
which are not seen are eternal.
Our WALK- 2 Cor 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
Many are waiting for God to do something- God is waiting for us to do something! to believe and receive.
He already did all He can do! the rest is up to men to respond IN FAITH

Now we can understand this passage anew and fresh-
2 Cor  5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.  (see the exchange?) old for new
5:18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 5:18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by
Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;  5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.  5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech
you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we

might be made the righteousness of God in him. (note the exchange)
